Variation A

Vertical Sidebar Steps + Main Content

Classic wizard pattern with persistent step navigation on the left. The sidebar shows progress at all times, and the main area focuses on one step. The current step (Google Business Profile) shows the OAuth connect flow with a help box for access issues.

Best when: Connecting a single practice for the first time. The sidebar keeps users oriented in a multi-step process. The persistent "Connected So Far" summary provides reassurance. Skip option prevents blocking when a particular channel isn't ready.

Variation B

Horizontal Stepper Bar + Full-Width Content

The stepper runs horizontally across the top, giving the main content area more width. Better for steps that need wide layouts (like showing account selection lists or preview panels). The trade-off is less vertical space for content.

Best when: Steps need more horizontal space (e.g., account selection lists, side-by-side preview). The horizontal stepper takes less vertical space than a sidebar. Works well on wide screens (1440px+). Trade-off: stepper labels get cramped with many steps.

Variation C

Single-Page Accordion -- All Steps Visible

Every step is an accordion section on a single scrollable page. Completed sections collapse showing a summary. The current step is expanded. Users can see the full process at a glance and jump to any section. No navigation between pages.

Best when: The wizard needs to feel lightweight and non-intimidating. Users can see all steps at once, see their progress in-context, and revisit completed steps by clicking to re-expand. Great for "Save & Finish Later" flows where users may complete the setup over multiple sessions. Trade-off: long page if sections have lots of content.
